The South Carolina Mindfulness Retreat will be held June 21-23, 2017 at beautiful Oconee State Park. This secular retreat is designed for participants to explore mindfulness practice, build community, and cultivate an atmosphere that facilitates personal renewal and reconnection. The retreat is intended primarily for educators, administrators, school counselors, school psychologists, and college professors who prepare teachers, however, we welcome anyone interested in learning more about mindfulness practices. The retreat will be led by Jelena Popovic, Todd Scholl, and Lucy MacGregor.

Registration
There are two ways to participate in the retreat.
The "Barracks Registration" includes retreat registration, five meals, and accommodations for two nights in the Oconee State Park barracks. We have fourteen slots open for this registration type. These barracks include an outdoor charcoal grill, a picnic table and table pad, a fire ring, bed and bath linens, two bathrooms, kitchen, cooking and eating utensils, refrigerator, stove, automatic coffee maker and a window AC unit. There are four separate bedrooms with two sets of bunkbeds in each room. Each person who registers under this type will have his/her own bed, but we cannot guarantee that your roommates will be of the same gender. If this is a problem, you will want to choose the "Personal Accommodations Registration." Photos of the barracks can be viewed here.
The "Personal Accommodations Registration" includes your retreat registration and five meals. We have nine slots open for this registration type. You will have to secure your own cabin or tent site for the retreat. This can be done on the park website at http://southcarolinaparks.com/oconee/introduction.aspx.
Please note that we will do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions, but will be limited by the choices provided to us by our caterer. If you have very special needs, you may need to bring some food for yourself.
All registration fees are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, we can try to transfer your registration to someone on the waiting list, but cannot guarantee we will be able to do so.
Please note that if you are currently struggling with physical and/or mental health issues, this retreat would not be appropriate.
The park’s main lake has been drained for emergency maintenance. They are working diligently to make repairs in an effort to restore the lake to its normal use for recreational resources and your enjoyment. I was told that the lake is refilling, but how quickly it fills is up to mother nature. Please check with the park directly for more information.
